Alyson Elmer is a passionate cellist and educator. Since starting her teaching studio in 2014, she has built a thriving music community in the Utah Valley, working with students of all ages and levels. She is dedicated to helping each student develop confidence, discipline, and a genuine love for music. With a strong emphasis on technical foundation, beautiful tone, and musicality, her students have gone on to earn placements in youth orchestras, succeed in auditions, and grow into confident, expressive musicians.

An avid performer in the Utah Valley, Alyson has performed in venues across the United States and Europe and has participated in masterclasses for renowned cellists and professors including Sterling Elliott, Richard Weiss, and Melissa Kraut. Beyond performing and teaching, and has recently completed projects with the band The National Parks as well as other classical, pop, contemporary, and religious recording work.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University where she graduated cum laude and studied under Dr. Michelle Kesler. During her time at BYU, Alyson was an integral member of the orchestra, serving as principal cellist for several semesters, and also performed as the cellist for the Honors Quartet. 

Outside of music, Alyson loves to ski, hike, and bake with her family and friends.
